The retracting clip is noted in the marketing literature. You can feel it as well, if you have your finger on it and you’re paying attention when you deploy the point. But the change is subtle, so maybe it’d be tough to notice visually.

I have not gotten the twist mechanism out of mine yet, but I have a hunch that the clip dropping into its home is actually part of the detent mechanism as well.

Cards on the table: I own quite a few converter kits, invariably ones that came in the box with various pens, and I’ve never in my life ever used a single one of them. Not once.

Any cartridge compatible pen can be manually refilled by just refilling a cartridge. You can do it with a syringe or a pipette or even an eyedropper if you’re careful.

It’s only a shame she didn’t make him think he was a frog.

But then, Trump is really already kind of a toad.

Random unordered list of cheap fountain pens that I know to be halfway decent:

• The Zebra V-301. It has a (partially) metal body and is reasonably slim, and has a unique feed mechanism that allegedly prevents it from drying out even if unused for extended periods. Price: Approx. $5 US.
• The Pilot Penmanship. This is basically the refillable version of the Pilot Varsity and has a pretty similar nib. It takes Pilot’s usual wide neck cartridges. Plastic body, for some reason no pocket clip. It has a slightly elongated tapered body that’s maybe “quillish,” but not really. Price: Approx. $10 US.
• Pilot Parallel. This is a calligraphy pen with a flat/italic nib. This violates your maximum line width criteria even in its narrowest width (1.5mm) but definitely has an elongated dip pen/desk pen type of shape which may be what you like. Price: Approx $12 US.
• The Platinum Preppy. Everyone raves about these as the quintessential beginner’s fountain pen but I personally don’t see the appeal. Plastic body, flimsy clip, but writes pretty good. It’s cheap, though. Price: Approx. $6 US.
• The Platinum Desk Pen, suggested elsewhere in this thread. It also has an elongated dip pen style body. Price: Approx $13 US.
• Honorable mention: The Jinhao 85. This is a knockoff of the revived Parker '51, and has a similar hooded nib style. I own one and it looks sharp and writes well, too. Price: Approx. $15 USD.

The Lamy Joy, Safari, and Al-Star may also fit your needs but are likely outside your budget. Lamy pens have very easily interchangeable nibs so you’re not locked into whatever width you started with forever which is nice if you decide you’d like a broader or narrower point later and you won’t have to buy a whole new pen. The Joy is also a calligraphy pen but has that elongated dip pen/quill shape. You could kit it with a normal nib if you wanted; I think a Lamy Fine or Medium nib would meet your line width requirement.

If you really, really want to have the quill pen experience you can get a dip pen. These will require you to be tethered to an inkwell at all times. The Speedball nib holder sets are ubiquitous and very inexpensive, and can be had easily at most arts and crafts stores. A dizzying array of different nibs are available for these which are very easily changed and extremely cheap.

The police love drug criminalization because it gives them widespread latitude to hassle pretty much anybody they feel like whenever they feel like, because “drugs could be involved.” Marijuana especially, since stoners are generally fairly nonthreatening folks but “I smelled marijuana” is a zero-effort way to instantly manufacture a fictitious probable cause for anything.

You forgot the part about how the trans surgeries are actually medical experiments to create an alien-human hybrid to prepare the Earth for the upcoming alien invasion.

That’s true on a technicality, but everyone knows what he meant. In the 2020 election, Biden got ~7 million more votes than Trump in addition to winning the electoral college. Trump’s intent was to be intentionally misleading and to twist the qualifications to imply that he should have won last time when, in fact, he didn’t.

They barely even fact checked him in the first place. They called him on a total of, what, three things? As opposed to the probably dozens of other complete untruths he uttered, not even just about policy and so forth but actual empirically verifiable elements of reality?

Here’s just what I spotted:

• Lied about not being involved with Project 2025 and not knowing what it is. We know he is acutely aware of what it is, and in fact some members of his staff were involved in its framing.
• Lied about the number of immigrants coming into the country.
• Further lied stating that other countries were “sending all their criminals and mental patients.”
• Claimed people were “aborting” babies after birth (called out by moderators).
• Claimed Harris said she would ban fracking in Pennsylvania (called out by Harris).
• Lied about crime rates going “through the roof” (called out by moderators).
• Responded to this by claiming FBI crime stats were falsified by “leaving out problem cities.”
• Lied about migrants eating people’s pets (called out by moderators).
• Lied about inflation numbers post-pandemic.
• Lied claiming that “Biden” built the Nordstream pipeline.
• Distorted the truth by claiming he won more votes than any sitting president in the last election, failing to mention that Biden still got more.

There were probably others.

He also essentially admitted that his plan for the war in Ukraine was to just let Russia win. That should be pretty damn worrisome for anyone.

The A2 mimics the faceted art deco style of the vintage Pilot Capless. The A1 has the syling of the newer Vanishing Point, although insofar as I can tell they both use the same mechanism.

Interesting to see the minute cutting of corners on the Jinhao.

For the trivial difference in price, I think I won’t be in a big rush to pick up a Jinhao just for the sake of completeness and I’ll stick to my Majohn.

I also just noticed that Majohn also released a clone of the Pilot Vanishing Point LS, which they’re calling the “A3.” I may have to check one of those out at some point.
