I wouldn’t say so personally. I grew up a few towns away. It’s a standard issue quiet little suburb. RFK Jr. is just a fuckin lunatic.

So not only has he not gotten an endorsement from any former president, he’s now also not gotten an endorsement from any former host of The Apprentice. Some real estate developer has probably endorsed him, so what, dude’s 1 for 3 out of every job he’s ever had?
Absolutely. That being said, let’s not take a victory lap until the election is complete and certification/inauguration go off without a hitch.
Well said to you as well. I agree that Tim Walz is a stellar example of the kind of masculinity I think we should be promoting. His VP candidacy has me so hopeful for a future where men like him are really able to reshape the narrative to one where being a strong man means being a respected and dependable ally.
Also a white man. While I don’t find this wording racist, I do think it makes an implicit association between white masculinity and negative character traits. This is effective when used as a critical lens by which to examine people like trump and the maga movement, because in those instances, the association is accurate. That being said, I do find that this kind of discourse on a broader scope is unproductive and I can certainly understand why one would perceive it as inflammatory. If we as white men are serious about defeating toxic masculinity, increased toxicity is unlikely to be an effective strategy. I believe it would be far more effective for us to focus our energy on reclaiming the concept of masculinity by endorsing and promoting white men who use their power in society to stand up for those less privileged than themselves. We also can’t rely on media outlets to do it for us, it’s a thing we need to own.
I’m not saying to release a bunch of chickens in Mar-a-Lago and let them go feral like Ybor city. But then again, I’m also not saying not to.
It’s genuinely so amusing how badly that little dig backfired on him. I’ve seen other people also not realizing he was trying to riff on “I’m speaking”. The thing he failed to realize is that essentially any professional women that were watching have likely heard that kind of shit from an older man at some point in their career, and it makes him look like (more of) a complete asshole.
Don’t forget the part where he played the victim as well. His ego also wouldn’t allow him to take blame for spreading blatant lies. So when he got called out, all of a sudden he knew nothing about this picture. Someone “just sent” it to him and he thought it was real. Obviously a guy who wants to be the fucking president shouldn’t need to demonstrate that he’s capable of critical thinking or fact checking… /s
Yeah they pretty much forced her to engage. All because this F… former president thought he could materialize an endorsement by posting a deepfaked image saying she endorsed him.
No worries. Personally based on my experiences, Vanguard funds are pretty well managed and even the riskiest funds wouldn’t be over indexed on a given stock.
For instance, with $VOOG, only three out of the over two hundred holdings are over 10% by weight. Companies like Amazon, Meta, and Google didn’t even make the cut for 10%. Even if $DJT was included in a Vanguard fund, I would be surprised if the shares of that fund moved significantly in response to $DJT losing value.
Obligatory: I am not a licensed financial adviser, this comment is my opinion and should not be considered financial advice.
Did you need to read past the .ml?
Do you know which Vanguard funds? I have some $VOOG and $DJT doesn’t show anywhere in the holdings as far as I can see: https://www.zacks.com/funds/etf/VOOG/holding
Yep. He and I wouldn’t agree on much, if anything, but pragmatically speaking he’s currently serving a valuable purpose so we can let him cook.
Isn’t it sad that I, and probably plenty others, could list off name after name after name that has used these exact lines on Lemmy? And yet they think we don’t see exactly what they’re up to.
For sure; I suspect there’s already a large group of women voters with trumper husbands already planning on voting for Harris, especially if this is anything to go off of: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/the-big-question-touching-a-nerve-this-election-can-my-husband-find-out-who-i-am-voting-for/ar-AA1oMuqQ
It would galvanize his base but they’re already a lost cause. Him having a racist/sexist outburst on live TV and Harris handling it like an adult would only help her campaign.
I don’t have anything fancy going on with the tablet. Like it’s not tracking the bike or my workout or anything like that. I just use my watch for fitness tracking and put up either exercise videos or a stream or something to watch on the tablet.
To each their own, but I think that’s giving him too much of a break. My saying “he generated it” was perhaps a poor choice of words so I’ll clarify; I think he 100% knew that this was a fake image, knows who generated it, and was complicit in spreading disinformation.
What I don’t believe is that some random person he doesn’t know said “hey look at this”, and then he got excited and started sharing the image. He wrote something to the effect of “I accept!”, and as dumb as the man is, I believe that he knows damn well that endorsements don’t happen like that.
Fair enough, someone probably helped him. What I don’t believe is that he wasn’t involved at all and the pictures just landed in his lap.
Can’t wait for every dumbass that calls themselves “aN aGiTaToR uwu” comes to tell us all how this is the worst thing ever and the Democratic Party is just blue fascism and we should all organize a write in campaign for whatever zero name recognition candidate they’ve decided they like this week. Anyway, when’s morning time in Russia?
