In Georgia (and most other states) you have to ask a judge to expunge your record and they have to give the prosecutor’s office an opportunity to respond before the judge can decide if the person with the juvenile record has been rehabilitated and their record should be expunged. There’s nothing automatic about the process.

This is something that needs to be said about all Republicans. Their party’s been indulging in fascist politics since Goldwater ran on opposing the civil rights act six decades ago, but we keep pretending there are decent people with the intellectual capacity to serve in office who identify as Republicans anyway for some reason. The uncomfortable but simple fact is that there are only idiot Republicans who don’t realize their party’s continued existence is a threat to the country and evil Republicans who do, and neither should be in any kind of government office ever.

There’s tons of people in the Democratic party who loved how “ineffective” Biden was at getting anything progressive done while he kept the taxpayer money to cops and for profit businesses flowing. They were making incredibly stupid arguments, but the hardcore Biden supporters were very much not stupid people.

Probably because the party was already in a really weak position in the first place, which led to both the nominee getting primaried and the party still losing the general anyway. Like, if someone has a massive coronary and ends up dying during emergency heart surgery you’re probably not going to blame the surgery for killing them.

People who have decided they want to lie and manipulate are going to research the process and volunteer these statements. Out of all the likely names I’ve seen, Roy Cooper (well liked governor from a swing state) seems like the one with the fewest turds on his record. He made some rough pro-Israel statements in October, but when progressives in his state complained he met with them and started stressing the need to protect Palestinian civilians after that (who had just gone entirely unmentioned in his first statements).
